Abstract
To Compare the newly introduced glycine acid EDTA and traditional choroquine diphosphate technique for the dissociation of IgG antibody from red blood cells, we performed comparative study on the anti-D sensitized red blood cells with both
technique.
Complete dissociation of in vitro sensitized anti-D with glycine acid EDTA treatment was observed in 17 of 24 (70.8%) samples while anti-D was completely dissociated with chloro1quine diphosphate treatment in 7 of 24(29.2%) samples. The
expressions
of
ABH, Rh, MNSs, Kidd, Duffy antigens were preserved well after both the glycine acid EDTA and chloroquine diphosphate treatments. It was concluded that the glycine acid EDTA elution was a rapid, effective method for the removal of IgG from
sensitzed
RBCs
and was superior to the traditional chloroquine elution technique.
